The Duke of Westminster was a title created by Queen Victoria in 1874. It was first granted to Hugh Grosvenor, 3rd Marquess of Westminster. As of August 9, 2016, the present holder of the title is Hugh Grosvenor who inherited the title after his father’s death.
Let us take a look at the new Duke, which, by the way, has probably become one of the most desirable bachelors of the world. He is 25 years old and is now contemplating how his life is changing overnight. After the sudden death of his father, Gerald Cavendish Grosvenor, at age 64, on Tuesday, August 9th, Hugh Richard Louis Grosvenor inherited his title and estate.
Except for an allegedly millionaire party when he turned 21, the young Duke has remained away from the spotlight. Now that he has inherited the title, everybody is asking who the new Duke is.
The new Duke is set to inherit a bulk from his father worth 9.35 billion sterling pounds making him the third richest person in the UK and 68th in the world. The inherited estate includes 300 acres in London’s most expensive neighborhood.
There is very little information on the new Duke. But the world is truly expectant on how the young Duke of Westminster will start to make press. As stated before, he is best known for his lavish 21-year-old birthday party. At that moment he said, “The party was simply amazing – a birthday and a party I will never forget. It is the beginning of a new era in my life and I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead.”
He made it to the spotlight again a year later when Prince William appointed him as one of the seven godparents to his first son Prince George. His early educational life took place at Eccleston Primary, a state school. He went on to further study in Newcastle University. He has now gone to work in estate management.
