New Year 2015 is about to set in and the occasion calls for flamboyant celebrations. But not to forget, clandestine miscreants are ready to pounce on you, spoiling the flavor of the season. Sweepstakes are not clean of scammers and thus, while initiating any step, one must act gingerly.
Sniff out the Danger
Fraudulent sweepstakes try hard to persuade you that you are a winner of something in which you haven’t even participated or don’t remember entering. You are bombarded with winning mails and calls. Once you evince your interest, the swindlers put up a condition that you have to pay a certain amount of money or disclose sensitive financial details to claim your prize. They lure you into a deadly decoy using free email accounts and sending big checks and ultimately, gulp down your money.
The Risks Involved
The sole objective of sweepstake scams is to hoodwink you and swindle off thousands of dollars. They can make you bereft of a magnitude of money. It is pivotal to understand their aim and go through their tricks to save yourself from the clutches. The modus operandi is to convince you that you have won big and ask you to wire money in their favor.
The imposters even ask you to reveal your bank account and credit card details. They tell you that you won a prize, to claim which, you have to divulge sensitive information. They say that they are asking the information for the verification purpose, but sadly, you are being made a scapegoat.
