After the crisis in Ukraine, it looks like the conflict between Russia and European Union is never going to end. The Russia has been already suffering lot from the economic sanctions by the west and the economy is dependent on the gas and oil exports. The European Union has decided to exploit this vulnerability of the Russia. The Russian government owed gas major Gazprom is all set to be sued by the European Union. The legal attack will be launched by EU official soon as they have evidence which proved that company manipulated gas prices.
The company will be charged in the European court under the anti-trust law because it is heavily overcharging its customers in the Eastern Europe. The EU tie up with Ukraine was at the fore front of the Ukrainian conflict. The Eastern European region is becoming the front zone for the proxy war between the Russia and European authorities. This very much reminds us of the history of cold war era, where Europe was feared to be suffering from the horrors of communism. Vlamadir Putin, Russia’s tough president might get mad at the EU because of this legal battle. The president has already warned Europe about cutting the gas supply lines to Europe which passes through Ukraine. The whole east Europe heats on the Russian gas.
The Gazprom has been a subject to scrutiny since many 2012 due to interference with the European gas supply lines. The third of the natural gas in the continent is been provided by Gazprom, despite the political tensions.
